“宗教是鸦片这种说法不对”

龚振栋说：「我们对宗教的政策和宣传是片面的，认为宗教是鸦片这种说法不对。」

在宣化时，王以琦曾宣扬反动神父是「善良」「慈悲」的人，给他咖啡牛奶，「兄弟上学，说帝国主义的文化特务是帮助中国提高文化；人民日报上登载美帝国主义杀害婴儿的照片，王以琦说：「这是解放后饿死小孩的照片」，不相信帝国主义惨无人道的罪行。苏联电影揭露披着宗教外衣进行特务活动的教徒，王以琦说：「这是造谣，苏联根本就没有信仰自由……」
